Saltpeter Cave
Very little has been historically recorded about
the cave. We do know that the name Saltpeter comes from the time
of the early French Settlers.
It is believed that they mined the
cave for Saltpeter, which they used
to make gunpowder.

Today, the cave is inhabited primarily by wine enthusiasts enjoying
the sounds of a babbling brook and the taste of quality wines.
Helpful Hints When Visiting Cave Vineyard:
- The cave is a short 200-yard walk from the tasting room. However,
we do offer a shuttle on most Saturdays and Sundays
- Also, the cave is usually cooler than the outside air temperature.
A sweater or light jacket may be needed. During cooler weather we have
heaters to keep you warm!
- Dogs are allowed on the premises but are not allowed inside the cave.
- Picnic baskets, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome. Alcoholic
beverages, other than our wines, are NOT permitted on the property.
